The success rate at Coast to Coast Interventions is
extremely high because we carefully gather information
about the individual and plan out a course of action
that will best suit the individual and family. Once
Coast to Coast receives a request for an intervention,
an intervention expert will have an initial phone consultation
with the family during which the expert asks questions
concerning the drug user's patterns, behaviors, habits,
friends and daily life. The interventionist will get
an idea of how the person functions and will continue
to ask questions until it is clear what type of intervention
strategy will need to be taken. During the phone consultation
the expert and the family will set up plans for the
interventionist to come out to an agreed upon location
and they will also discuss who will be present and exactly
what will happen before, during and after the intervention.
If necessary further phone consultation will take place
before the actual intervention.
Once the consultation
is complete the interventionist will tell the family
about the pre-intervention meeting, which will occur
the night before the intervention. Key participants
in the intervention will need to understand their role
in the intervention and will undergo scenario training
by the interventionist. During the pre-intervention
meeting consequences for the substance abuser will be
discussed and post-intervention plans will also be solidified.
The actual intervention
often takes place at the individual's home or close
friend or relative's home. This way the intervention
is private and the environment is safe and as unthreatening
as possible. Close family members, spouses, friends
and sometimes co-workers or bosses are involved in the
intervention so that the individual can see the way
that his/her addiction has hurt and affected other people.
In a successful intervention, such as those done by
Coast to Coast, the family and interventionist will
work as a team to obtain the best possible outcome.
If the individual is still unwilling during the intervention
the expert and the family will set consequences for
the individual. Usually the individual becomes willing
as the intervention goes on.
After a successful intervention,
the family and expert explain how the treatment process
will work and the expert escorts the individual to treatment.
The expert continues to follow up both with the family
and the individual throughout the treatment process,
talking to the family on a regular basis and often times
visiting the individual in treatment, or when not possible
having phone conversations. Because each client is extremely
important to us, the follow up provides a constant flow
of communication between all parties and lets the family
know what kind of progress is being made. The Interventionist
will also continue to communicate with the family throughout
the treatment process.
